It is also the trip with the widest spread between a good night and a flat one, and the difference is mostly decided by two things you can check before you book: the moon and the seat you sit in.

Two practical traps
The pier. The listing for the benchmark trip names two different places: the description says you leave from Nopparat Thara Pier in Ao Nang, while the itinerary shows pick-up and return at Ao Nam Mao, on the other side of the headland. Both are real piers and both are used for this circuit. Take the pick-up point from your confirmation, not from the description — and if you are making your own way there, confirm which one the evening before.
Railay and Tonsai get no pick-up. The benchmark trip states it plainly: no hotel collection from either beach. Since neither has a road, that means your own longtail across to Ao Nang beforehand and, more to the point, a way back after dark. The regular boat service from Ao Nang stops at 6:00 pm, which is roughly when this trip is having dinner. Staying on Railay changes this from a booking into a logistics problem — solvable, but not by accident.
Who it is not for
The benchmark listing excludes children under 2, pregnant travellers, wheelchair users, people with back or heart conditions and travellers over 95. Every operator sets its own limits, so read the boat you are buying rather than this one.
